Have been to Longreach 3 times and the 2 tours offered to Camden Park Station have always been our top priority. If is so fantastic to see and listen to how the Walker family have approached their lives during the terrible drought over the past 5 years. Tour 1 is meeting up with the impressionable Outback Dan for a Luncheon at the Stockmans Hall of Fame then a friendly informative tour around Camden Park finishing at the Artesian Dam for Devonshire Tea. The second tour is the Outback Aussie Sunset and 2 course Dinner which includes seeing the sunset from the Artesian bore then your meal and an informative look around at the homestead. Dan and James host this great tour. It is so fantastic to have this wonderful Walker family open up their station and house to the public. We cannot speak more highly of the Walker family and these tours. Most highly recommended. Make one of these tours a must if travelling to Longreach.

We booked the evening tour which ran from 4pm-8.30pm, pick up at our hotel was included and after a short drive we arrived at the homestead. Our two preschoolers were well catered for and had a great play while we toured the homestead. We then met some animals in the shearing sheds and finished the evening watching the sunset enjoying an amazing dinner under the stars.

Our visit started with an interesting talk on their beef stub. A short drive over rough terain to a watewr hoel on a high point complete with a viewing tower where we had drinks and nibbles and watched a lovely sunset. Then a drive to the homestead where we were surved BBQ Wagu steak and all the trimmings. A delicious dessert and a walk through the homestead capped off an enjoyable evening.

Camden Park Station Tour with Dan is a must when in Longreach. the tour starts when Dan collects you from your accommodation, takes you to the Cattleman’s Bar and Grill at the Hall of Fame for a delicious light lunch then it off to the Station to hear the tales of the family history of the Walkers as you tour the cattle yards and shearing shed and their struggles with drought. Climb the lookout tower to look out over the artesian pools back into Longreach. Finish the afternoon with fresh scones and tea on the verandah of the historic homestead and a tour of of the homestead. Very enjoyable informative afternoon with the Dan.
